João - Chief Executive Officer João's first entrepreneurial venture was with his brother selling pens they borrowed from their parents to other family members and to each other. He was eight years old at the time. Since then João has learnt that starting and growing a business requires passion, dedication and vision. These are qualities he acquired from his parents whilst they grew and sustained a successful family business. It is these qualities that have driven João into ventures in the for profit and not for profit sectors. João has worked for leading multinational pharmaceutical corporations, is a consultant for government agencies and academic institutions and is studying towards a PhD in Law, Policy and Society at Northeastern University. His ventures include PharmaLogica Consulting, RED Investors, LLC and a successful real estate portfolio in South Africa. João is a licensed real estate professional in Massachusetts and has participated in two executive programs in negotiation skills at Harvard Business School and Scotwork. |

Werner- Director, Southern Africa Werner is a proactive and conscientious Construction Engineer with five years international experience in the Construction Industry. He overcomes challenges through a tenacious and questioning approach and by drawing on his wide-ranging practical and theoretical experience. Before RED Investors, Werner worked for established contractors in the construction of underground train stations, bridges, water treatment plants, flood defence structures and generic infrastructure. Werner brings a professional and personal commitment to high professional standards in construction and health and safety to RED Investors. Werner has experience in working in cohesive teams and has an excellent track record of project achievements that yield multiple business benefits. |
| Rene – Responsibility Director, Global Operations
René has a Masters degree in Welfare Management and a Bachelors degree in Social Work from the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa. Before joining RED Investors, René worked as a researcher and academic in social development, a business consultant and researcher in corporate citizenship, and as a social worker in rural development and social welfare. René believes that corporate responsibility has to be strategically integrated into all business activities and that a business’s impact on society and the environment must be monitored, evaluated and communicated. René continues to pursue her professional interest in inter-disciplinary and multi-sector collaboration in socio-economic development. As Responsibility Director at RED Investors she hopes to facilitate opportunities for reciprocal business-society solutions to collective socio-economic and environmental challenges. |
